DTG (Direct To Garment)

Brother GTX Pro DTG Printer

custom printed tees by evoke

Creating the ultimate in high quality direct to garment printing. Offering the premium AS Colour range of tees, hoodies, crews and more with your own custom artwork digitally printed at 1200x1200 DPI in CMYK full colour with cutting edge Innobella Textile inks.

Direct to garment printing (or DTG) is an emerging garment decorating technology that became widely available in the commercial market in the mid-2000s. Unlike traditional labor-intensive processes such as screen printing, DTG utilizes inkjet printing technology to send a full color, detailed design directly from a computer to a digital printer with a garment loaded into it.

Piezo print heads then jet opaque white ink and translucent CMYK ink onto the garment and recreate the digital artwork. These inks are water-based, eco-friendly inks that are specifically designed to adhere to fabric when heat cured. DTG makes it simple to create high-quality printed garments and saves on the cost and time associated on manual setups and films required for screen printing.

By facilitating a higher resolution, crisp graphic detail and full-colour capability, DTG opens up a whole new world for textile decoration. Don’t limit yourself with a set number of colors. Push your creativity with explosive graphics. Even include photography in your designs. With DTG, the sky is the limit!

WE CAN NOW PRODUCE SHORT AND MEDIUM RUNS WITH EASE AND EFFICIENCY.
We have added DTG to our range, to fill the gap in the market where we have clients looking for small (or even medium) quantities of printed items.
There is a minimum order quantity for all other print methods (Screen Printing and Supacolour are both 10 pieces minimum, and this can be costly once you include setups).
DTG printing provides us with flexibility to provide everything you are after, from one-offs to wide-ranging production runs, everything is now available at Evoke!

For ease of ordering your custom designs, for DTG printing onto the AS Colour range of products, we have created an easy to use online designer at www.customprintedtees.com.au.

You can also order DTG/DTF printing onto your favourite uniform brands by selecting the 'Full Colour DTG/DTF' option (screenshot shown below).
For direct-to-garment (DTG) or direct-to-film (DTF) printing, the preferred file type is PNG with a transparent background. More info on artwork requirements, can be found here.
If you have the correct artwork, there is no setup fee for this print method, simply tick the 'Repeat job?' box.
Or we can redraw your artwork into Vector for $60 + gst, and you will be supplied with the artwork files for your own future use.

DTG direct to garment printing is only suitable for COTTON garments. All garments on the Custom Printed Tees website are suitable for DTG printing.

We offer DTF printing on any non-cotton garments. We will use our expertise to select the appropriate print method for your garments.

Recommended for use on:

  • High quality 100% cotton t-shirts
  • Cotton Rich Hoodies or Sweatshirts (min 80% cotton)

Advantages of DTG Printing:

  • Perfect for one-offs and small runs as setup cost is low
  • The print is soft to touch
  • Complex detailed designs in full colour are achievable

Artwork Requirements:

For direct-to-garment (DTG) or direct-to-film (DTF) printing, the preferred file type is PNG with a transparent background.

We can also work with JPEG, EPS, GIF, and TIFF, with limitations though. If you don't have a PNG with a transparent background, but have Vector Artwork , we can work with that! We can save as a PNG and drop the background out for you.

Here are some guidelines to follow:

  1. Image Resolution: Ensure that your file is at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) for the best print quality. This resolution will help maintain clarity and detail in your design.

  2. Size: Your design should be saved as close as possible to the desired print size.

  3. Transparency: If your design requires a transparent background (e.g., a logo), make sure to save your file with transparency intact. Saving as PNG format usually preserves transparency. In Photoshop or Paint, go to File > Save As > PNG. In Illustrator or similar software, you would typically go to File > Export > PNG.
If you don't save your image as a PNG with a transparent background, the white or coloured square will print around your logo.

  4. Checking Artwork: To verify the quality of your design, open the file on your computer screen and resize it to the desired print size. If the image appears blurry or pixelated at this size, it will likely print that way. If you're satisfied with the clarity, you can proceed with uploading your design.

  5. Image Size on Google: If you found an image on Google and want to ensure it's suitable for printing, you can use the following steps:

    • Search for your desired image on Google.
    • Click on the "Images" tab.
    • Below the Google search bar, click on the "Tools" button.
    • In the options that appear, click on the "Size" dropdown menu.
    • Select "Larger Than" and choose a minimum size such as "1024 x 768". Or simply Large if that's the only option you have, depends on your browser.

By applying this filter, Google will display only images that meet the specified size criteria, ensuring they are large enough for printing.

Remember to respect copyright and usage rights when using images found on the internet. It's best to use original artwork or obtain appropriate permissions for any copyrighted material. There is also a 'Usage Rights' option in the google images settings, where you can select Labeled for Reuse, Labeled for Commercial Reuse, or Commercial and other licenses, depending on your browser and your needsBy using the "Usage Rights" filter, you can narrow down your search results to images that are explicitly labeled for commercial use or have licenses that allow for reuse without infringing on copyright.

Colours are printed in CMYK. DTG is not matched to Pantone colours like other print methods.

If you are unsure, feel free to email your artwork through to sales@evokeuniforms.com.au, and we can have a look.

If your artwork is not suitable, we will let you know via email.
We can redraw your artwork into the correct format if required from $70 + gst.
You will receive a copy of your vector artwork in PDF and AI formats for your own future use.
